400th Anniversary Commemorative Gold Proof $5 Coin. The Jamestown 400th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Program included two coins - a silver dollar and a $5 gold coin. The $5 coin was minted at the West Point, NY facility, weighs 8.359 grams and has a diameter of .850 inches. The composition is 90% gold and 10% alloy. Each coin comes in a blue velvet presentation box enclosed in a cardboard box and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The obverse side of the coin shows Captain John Smith greeting an American Indian and the reverse has a current rendering of the Jamestown Memorial Church. Only 100,000 of these coins were minted.
