Mary Jemison's story is a vivid personal account of Iroquois life during the turbulent years of the American Revolution. Born in 1743 in Western Pennyslvania, Mary was captured during the French and Indian war. She was traded to the Senecas and lived most of her life among them. In 1823 she told the story of her life to James Seaver who published the narrative the following year. Here it is republished with an introductionary analysis by June Namias, an associate professor of history at the University of Alaska. (Paperback - 160 pages).
