"Blood on the River"

Samuel Collier came from nothing so when he becomes a page on board the Susan Constant, bound for the New World, he can't believe his good fortune.  He's heard that the New World is full of gold and adventures.  But after his arrival, Samuel realizes that the New World is nothing like he imagined.  And it is soon clear to him that the ways of the English don't always work in this unfamiliar land.  Samuel learns the language of the Indians and begins to learn that he can survive.  This is historical fiction at it's best.
