At least five types of tops were known in England by the 16th century. Toy tops brought to the New World colonies by the arly settlers would not have been the first tops on the North American continent, where Native Americans had been playing with tops long before the arrival of the Europeans. Included here are rules for just a few of the games that can be played with this traditional peg top. Made of wood.
