Pocahontas Cameo Brooch
SKU50662
This replica of the Pocahontas brooch is based on the original which is in the collection of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation and is on display in the Jamestown Settlement Museum galleries. Rolfe family legend says that the brooch was carved by a London jeweler during Pocahontas's visit to England in 1621. The cameo likeness was carved from a piece of blue onyx. The original was donated to the Foundation in 1979 by a direct descendant of Pocahontas.
A reproduction of the brooch was presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Virginia to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the founding of Jamestown in 2007. The gift was presented on behalf of the eight official Indian tribes of Vrginia.
This replica was handcrafted by a Virginia jeweler and is made of resin with a sterling silver rim. Comes in a black velvet gift box.
MADE IN THE USA.
