Pottery - 17th Century Watering Jug
SKU11034
This plain pottery 3/4 glazed pot holds about 1.5 quarts of water. It is a reproduction of a watering jug from the 17th century. The bottom of the jug is pierced with numerous holes. To fill the jug with water, the gardner would imerse it into a barrel. After the jug fills with water, before removing the jug from the barrel, cover the small hole at the top with your thumb, trapping the water inside with air pressure. Then carry the jug to the plant you want to water, remove the thumb and the water sprinkles out the bottom.
HANDMADE IN THE USA.
